If you live in Montrose like I do, you’ve probably noticed the buzz along Westheimer lately and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. Our neighborhood is going through a transformation that beautifully blends Montrose’s artistic soul with a fresh wave of wellness and culture. At the heart of it all is the historic Tower Theatre, which will soon become home to a new jazz supper club, and right next door, two amazing new wellness spaces: Black Swan Yoga and Revival Pilates.
The Tower Theatre (1201 Westheimer Rd) has been a Montrose landmark since 1936, and I’ve always loved walking past it and imagining all the stories it holds. Now, it’s getting a new life and this one’s full of music. San Antonio-based jazz musician and venue owner Brent “Doc” Watkins is turning the space into a 300-seat jazz supper club and restaurant. Think 1930s elegance meets modern Montrose vibes. It’s expected to open this summer, and I’m already looking forward to spending cozy evenings there, enjoying live jazz.
This one feels especially close to my heart. I’ve been a Black Swan Yoga member for two years now, and it has been such a grounding part of my routine. So, when I found out they were opening a new studio right on Westheimer, just a short walk from my house, I was genuinely thrilled. The new location is warm, welcoming, and just as community-driven as the others, offering donation-based, heated yoga classes in the signature 90-degree space. This location is set to open in just a few days.
Just steps away is Revival Pilates, founded by the same incredible couple behind Black Swan, Olivia and Roland Keller. This space is calm, beautifully designed, and all about mindful movement. They offer traditional reformer Pilates and even have an on-site sauna. Whether you’re new to Pilates or looking for a studio with a personal feel, this place has potential to be your new favorite.
These new additions aren’t just exciting because they’re shiny and new, they represent a deeper shift in our neighborhood. As someone who lives in Montrose, it feels like we’re reclaiming Westheimer’s charm and character, but with a modern twist. We’re keeping the creativity and energy that makes Montrose Montrose, and adding spaces that bring people together, whether through jazz, yoga, or Pilates. It’s a new chapter, but it still feels like home.
